Abstract
The article investigates adult education in Ireland in the context of UNESCO educational documents. The author gives a general description of UNESCO in the field of adult education development. The article studies the main functions of UNESCO, highlights the main work directions at the six international conferences on adult education CONFINTEA, and their influence on the formation and development of adult education in a global context, describes the main documents according to the conferences. In order to do so, the author explores the participation of Ireland at the international conferences paying attention to the study of international adult education cooperation and its importance in the further development of adult education in Ireland.
