Abstract
The article deals with the relevance of the investigation of tolerance of gender in modern society. The author proved that tolerance of gender is necessary in different systems of relations: interpersonal, family, society. It is shown that tolerance of gender is an object of research of psychologists, pedagogues and philosophers. In the article, the author defined many definitions of the term "tolerance of gender" and therefore there are some differences. The author systematized the main approaches to the understanding and interpretation of the concept of "tolerance of gender". Based on the scientific literature, the author suggested to interpret tolerance of gender as a rejection of gender stereotypes; as a respect and acceptance of various forms of self-expression and manifestation of the human individuality of men and women. In the article, it is shown that the structure of tolerance of gender consists of such components as cognitive, emotional and behavioral components. In addition, the author analyzed the main levels of formation of tolerance of gender from gender intolerance as a rejection and various forms of gender discrimination towards active gender tolerance. Based on the results of the investigation, the main types of gender tolerance are clarified: indifference to the existence of different types of gender identity; impossibility of mutual understanding; tolerance and indulgence; expansion of one’s own experience and critical dialogue. Also, the article describes the main principles of tolerance of gender (cooperation, respect for human dignity, regardless of sexual identity, recognition of the diversity of approaches to sexual and gender identity, respect for the right to be different, rejection of domination, etc.). A perspective area of research is the identification of organizational factors that contribute to the formation of tolerance of gender in higher education institutions.
