Abstract
The article is devoted to one of the topical problems of preschool education – organization of project activities as a factor of cognitive development of preschool children. In particular, the history of the origin of the project method is considered, the essence of such concepts as project and project activity is revealed. The main focus is on the characteristic features of project activities in preschool education institutions. It is shown that using project activities is an important means of modern education and upbringing, cognitive development and creative abilities of a child of preschool age. It is proved that project work stimulates the cognitive activities of preschool children, promotes the creation of a fruitful educational environment and the establishment of principles of humanistic education. It is determined that the project activities are aimed at acquiring new knowledge of preschool children in close connection with real life practice, formation of specific skills through systematic organization of problem-oriented educational search. The main requirements to the use of project activities in preschool education institutions are the following: the presence of a problem (task) that is significant in terms of research and creativity; the practical, theoretical, cognitive significance of the expected results; the independent activities of children; structuring the content of the project; the use of research methods; discussion of ways of formatting the final results; collection, systematization, analysis of the data obtained; summarizing, formatting the results, their presentations. However, project activities in a preschool education institution will not yield the expected results if they are separate from the traditional educational process, so it is important to design possible links between project activities and other preschool activities in the educational process.
