Abstract
Purpose. The given work is devoted to the problem of Ukraine concept evaluative component and its actualization in modern English with the aim of establishing the features and patterns of their deployment. Methods. For its realization the lexico-semantic field approach and structural approach are involved. In the work the concept Ukraine is proposed to be investigated as a field structure with its dominant and periphery which proves to be verbalized in language as a unity of all language units in the form of lexico-semantic field. The methods of analysis and synthesis, the method of qualitative and quantitative calculation, and the method of continuous sampling are used in the work. Results. It is proved that dominant of the concept Ukraine is represented in language by words Ukraine, Ukrainian. The periphery of it is formed by the words with the meaning similar to the meaning of its dominant. It is proved that concept Ukraine is structurally organized with its imaginative-perceptive component, con- tent component, evaluative component, and fragment of personal experience. In the given work the imaginative-perceptive component is correlated with the sensory sensations, its content component is connected with its notion, while its evaluative component is correlated with the ideas of good /evil on the axiological scale andfragment of personal experience is identified with its personal perception experience. Conclusions. Concept Ukraine is proved to be neutral in its evaluative meaning. Evaluative component may change its neutral essence into positive or negative under the influence of evaluative lexical means, con- textually.
