Abstract
Summary. The article proves that the Ukrainian children's book of the 60-80s of the XX century has developed traditions that have historically evolved and enriched in line with the main trends of both domestic art and the art of other countries. But the main basis for the development of children's books in Ukraine, despite the cultural, political and economic processes, remained the national creativity, which was not lost due to the national consciousness of the creators of children's literature. The article analyzes the main trends in the development of children's literature of Ukraine in the 60-80 years of the XX century, the work of leading Ukrainian children's poets and writers, masters of book illustration for children in a wide historical and cultural context. In the article we try to prove that the Ukrainian children's book of the 60-80 years of the XX century has developed traditions that have historically developed constantly and enriched in line with the main tendencies of both domestic art and art of other countries. However, despite the cultural, political and economic processes, the basic basis for the development of children's books in Ukraine remained the folk art, which was not lost due to the national consciousness of the creators of children's literature. Illustration plays an important role, it is like music for a song. The child will not perceive plain text, she thinks not verbally but figuratively – line, color, size. The child begins to know the world with his feelings, and later this experience makes sense. Therefore, the children's book should be considered comprehensively. It can be stated that despite the censorship oppression and the imposition of an ideological program, during the 60-80s of the XX century the Ukrainian children's book was based on creative mastery of national traditions. There are both professional qualities of poets and artists of the European school as well as folk traditions. Poets and writers often turned to eternal values, bypassing the norms of education in the socialist camp. These appeals to nature, friendship and sometimes something very small hinted at love for his native Ukraine. Creativity of leading children's illustrators demonstrates individual approaches to mastering national traditions of folk art, searching for expressive and accurate figurative interpretations of literary works and understanding o f child psychology.
