Abstract

This article is being addressed to modern tendencies of updating «The typical educational program on organization and conducting skill enhancement of teaching staff». The article provides also analysis of the main changes on content and forms of conducting skill enhancement courses for teachers who work on the program “The New Ukrainian School”. The scientific works are analyzed; problems of professional development of the teacher’s personality are devoted. The tendency among developed European countries to create conditions for lifelong learning and professional improvement of personality is identified. And especially to the free choice of teachers of forms, methods and technologies of advanced training. The article presents results of the emperical study on the organization of skill enhancement courses for teachers (identifying the most interesting and effective forms and methods of teaching), as well as the main needs and difficulties faced by pedagogical staff in relation to reform of secondary education were enduced. 239 people have participated in the experimental study, pedagogical workers of the general secondary education in Kyiv, who have undergone refresher courses in the 2018-2019 academic year. The study has found a number of gaps in the organization and content of the skill enhancement on the innovative model of “The New Ukrainian School”. Teachers respondents experience the most difficulties in professional activities when working with new programs, innovative forms of teaching and upbringing and understanding of the psychological status of students / educatee. Enduces problems are in insufficiency in provision of manuals, scientific and methodological literature on child development and upbringing issues and lack of regular opportunity to improve their qualification in pedagogical training. Teachers interviewed have the most difficulties in communication with parents of students / educatee. Required areas of knowledge in which educators seek to improve their skills are teaching methods, psychology and upbringing methods. Regarding the overall satisfaction with the quality of the skill enhancement courses – the positive dynamics is 100%; dissatisfied with skill enhancement courses were not educed.
