Abstract
The article considers the origins of teacher education in Sweden, which makes it possible to identify the following key trends: focus on the needs of the school and society, improving the system of teacher education through the development and introduction of new variants of teacher training, improvement of management development education, ensuring the quality of university education, growth prestige of the teaching profession.
