The author of the publication analyzes the creative work of the modern Tajik writer Bahmanyor (Bahmanyor Arabzoda), first of all his collection of short stories "Once upon a time in Sarmaddeh". The main focus is on the ecology of the soul and the ecology of nature. The writer recreates the unique world of the Tajik village, which goes back to the depths of the centuries of Tajik-Persian rich history and culture. This individually unique world is at the same time a synthesis of the universal humanistic worldview. The basis of the narrative is sentimental-sad pathos due to the fact that this attractive world is irrevocably disappearing. The realistic basis of the works is combined with fantastic-grotesque elements.
