Abstract
The article is based on the analysis of scientific and methodological sources, normative documents and practical experience. Thus, this study introduces a system of criteria, quality indicators and methods for assessing social services for social support of the families in difficult life circumstances (DLC). Analysis of normative and methodological documents that assess the quality of social support of families in DLC and the objective use of such an assessment allowed the authors of this article to identify the drawbacks of an existing model of this activity. These are: insufficient coverage of an assessment criteria for the possible goals of social support of families in DLC by the available regulatory documents, the predominant use of subjective assessment indicators of the service, the absence of a long-term influence assessment of the service. The authors suggest introducing the system of criteria for assessment the quality of social support as a social service to families in DLC. That includes: overcoming or coping with the problems that faces a family in DLC, obtaining an ability to provide the conditions for meeting the needs of family members, children’s growth and socialization, normalization of psychological climate and relationships in a family; involvement of all the family members in order to overcome DLC, normalization of the family social functioning and improvement of its well being level. The use of experimental and cohort studies were offered as an assessment design research. The methods used: family members’ and social workers’ interviews and questionnaires combination, structured observation and content analysis of documents containing the results of the initial assessment of the service provision by its recipients.
