Abstract

In the article the authors theoretically substantiate the pedagogical conditions of formation of moral and ethical concepts in children of senior preschool age on the material of Sukhomlinsky’s fairy tales; moral and ethical education of preschoolers is characterized as a complex and long-term process that covers the entire period of childhood and continues in adult life and is considered in its end result as the formation of moral and ethical education. According to state documents on education, it is determined that the leading task of preschool education is the comprehensive development of man as a person, as the highest value of society; education of high moral qualities of future citizens, enrichment of their cultural potential, based on cultural, historical and moral values of the Ukrainian people, its traditions and spirituality; mastering the values of world culture, universal heritage. On the basis of the conducted research the contradictions which have arisen between: necessity of formation of comprehensively developed and morally brought up personality reflecting mentality of the Ukrainian people, and a real level of formation of moral and ethical education of children of preschool age are formulated and considered; the urgent need to improve the content, forms and methods of moral and ethical education in ZDO and the lack of a holistic study on the formation of moral and ethical education of preschoolers by means of V.O. Sukhomlinsky’s fairy tales; the need to integrate the educational opportunities of teachers and parents for moral and ethical education of preschoolers. The authors of the article determine the process of reading books with moral content as a significant factor. They cultivate courage, a sense of pride and admiration for the heroism of people, compassion, sensitivity, caring for loved ones through artistic images. Reading these books must be accompanied by a conversation. Only under this condition children will learn to evaluate the actions of the characters, their motives. The teacher helps children to understand the attitude to the characters, seeks to understand the main idea. With the right questions, the child will have a desire to imitate the moral actions of the characters. Teachers should be warned against moral discourses and morals in connection with the content of the book. The conversation should be about the actions of the characters, not about the behavior of the children in the group. The work itself by the power of artistic image will have a greater impact than any moralizing.
