Abstract
The article is devoted to substantiation of the historical stages of formation and development of the literary component in the total structure of professional training of teachers of verbal disciplines. The publication highlighted a number of objective factors, which caused the chronology of the author's retrospective of formation of the literary competence. The author proved that the historical periods of the past centuries tite result of a certain type of training were elements of literary competence, which appears to be in a certain body of knowledge and skills.
