The images of Turkic women presented in the Ukrainian press of 1920-1930s are analyzed in the article. The class principle was decisive for the characterization of women in the Ukrainian Soviet newspapers and magazines, but the national principle was decisive in Western Ukrainian newspapers. In the Soviet press, women's emancipation was considered a component of the world communist movement. Therefore, propaganda tried to draw the Turkic women into active struggle for the world revolution. А new image of a Turkic woman was being formed - initiative and active in social life.
