Abstract
The purpose of the discipline is to reveal the patterns of development of national and world literature in the context of the development of the historical and literary process, the national identity of the literature of Ukraine, America, artistic features of the works of prominent writers. Course objectives: formation of ideas about socio-cultural and economic factors of development of European countries in the specified period; analysis and interpretation of the most significant works of art of this period; identification of artistic dominants of styles of epochs of individual styles of writers; development of skills of work with literary sources; consolidation and deepening of theoretical knowledge that form the basis of the course, in particular, Mannerism, Baroque, Classicism, Rococo, sentimentalism, pre-romanticism, romanticism, realism, etc.
