Abstract

The article presents the results of the analysis of the problem of assessing the quality of vocational training of future philologists and measuring the level of professional competence of students as the expected result of vocational training. Analysis of approaches to assessing the quality of vocational training of students in the philological field; the tendency of searching for instruments to assess the quality of higher education and to ensure its effectiveness through experimental testing of educational forms, methods and tools. A system of criteria, indicators and levels of professional competence of future philologists has been designed. A conclusion has been reached on the universality of the approaches to the identification of criteria because of their harmonization with the structure of professional competence, which includes: personal characteristics of objectives, motives, interests in professional activity; conformity of students’ professional knowledge with the chosen professional field; formation of professional skills, skills and competences of future specialists; character of self-esteem of young people with the level of their own readiness and competence. Accordingly, the objective, knowledge, action and reflexive criterion of professional competence of future philologists is described. The objective criterion is the existence of conscientious aims, motives and interests for acquiring professional competence. The knowledge criterion characterizes the level of professional knowledge of future philologists. The performance criterion presupposes the ability to be creative in the performance of training-oriented tasks, the ability to apply theory in practice. The reflexive criterion reveals the features of self-esteem by future philologists of the level of their professional competence and the corresponding plan of her studies competence – high (creative), medium (productive), sufficient (reproductive), low (adaptive).
