There are various interpretive strategies: neoclassical poets give preference to images that convey the idea of kalokagatia, the search for balance between personal and social, the dominance of art over politics. The symbolist Tychyna appeals to ancient mythology to comprehend the socio-political situation in Ukraine and the dramatic aspects of the totalitarianism ideology.
