Abstract

The article highlights the content and results of the pilot implementation of the program for the adaptation of foreign students to the educational environment of higher educational institutions of Ukraine. The essence of the adaptation of foreign students to the educational environment of Ukrainian universities is defined, which is characterized as a complex process of active adaptation and development of the personality of the competitor of higher education in the educational space of the university of another state. The structural and functional model of the process of adaptation of foreign students to the educational environment of Ukrainian universities is presented. It allows to display the composition, hierarchy of the components of the system of adaptation of foreign students, and reveals the interconnection between the elements, and presents the ways of functioning of this system. The essence of the structural and functional model of adaptation of foreign students to the educational environment of higher educational institutions of Ukraine is substantiated. It includes: conceptual-target block, characterizing the interaction of goals, tasks, methodological approaches; Content-activity block, including content, the essence of adaptation activities, the periods of the adaptation process; Criterially- productive unit, which, thanks to certain criteria, fixes the degree of approximation of the result of adaptation activity to the goal of the model-the successful adaptation of foreign students.  The basic pedagogical conditions of the process of adaptation of foreign students to the educational environment of higher educational institutions of Ukraine are characterized, namely: 1) the development and implementation of a program for the adaptation of foreign students to the educational environment of the university; 2) ensuring intercultural communication of all participants in the adaptation process; 3) application of monitoring as a tool for ensuring the success of adaptation of foreign students to the educational environment of Ukrainian universities. Attention is focused on programs for the adaptation of foreign students to the educational environment of Ukrainian universities, which has been developed and implemented taking into account the sociocultural, socio-psychological, ethnopsychological characteristics of foreign students on the basis of the complexity, systemativeness and integrity of the adaptation process. The program of adaptation in the directions of sociocultural, socio-psychological, didactic adaptation was implemented with the involvement of all subjects of the adaptation process and was aimed at ensuring gradual, systematic and scientifically based mastering by foreign students of the basic culture of the new educational environment and the implementation of acculturation in it. The content of the program of adaptation of foreign students to the educational environment of Ukrainian universities is presented. The results of the introduction of the program for the adaptation of foreign students to the educational environment of higher educational institutions of Ukraine are justified.
