Abstract

This article provides a brief analysis of the origins and history of the course “Philosophy for Children” in the world and in Ukraine. The ideas of the author’s course “Philosophy for Children”, developed by N. Gavrish and O. Linnik, are analyzed in more depth. The ideas of the course development are compared with the key principles of the Concept of the New Ukrainian School, on the basis of which the expediency of their use in designing the integrated course “I am exploring the world” is substantiated. The key principles that formed the basis for the development of an integrated course “I explore the world” are identified: humanization, taking into account the age and psychological needs of the child, dialogicity, problems, text-centrism, “humanized” knowledge, symbolizing knowledge, cooperation. Aspects of defining the topic, the approximate content of the course, as well as its methodological support are revealed. The article provides examples of topics of training sessions, problematic issues, the structure of training sessions of the course “I explore the world”, which were designed taking into account the key principles of “Philosophy for Children”. The results of a survey of students of the second pilot classes on the areas of their interests are presented. Pupils of pilot 67 classes took part in the survey. The total number of respondents was 1803. Students were asked 3 questions: “What do I want to know?”, “What do I want to explore?”, “What worries me?” The questions asked by the children were used as a basis for building topics and a palette of problematic issues, which were studied in the 3rd pilot class. Special attention is paid to conducting educational and cognitive dialogues, the position of the teacher in relation to students during training is revealed. Ways of using modeling methods, methods of creating “smart images”, symbolization of knowledge in educational classes of worldview courses are revealed.
