Abstract

The article considers the issue of global urban trends in urban development as socio-economic systems. Based on the analysis of the definition of the city as a socio-economic system, the author's definition of this concept is proposed. The composition of the subsystems of the socio-economic system of the city has been supplemented and their content has been determined. A generalized scheme of the system of factors of external and internal environment that influence the city as a socio-economic system is developed. The influence of global urban tendencies on the development of cities as socio-economic systems is substantiated. An analysis of the differences between the process of urbanization in Europe and China, highlighted the positive and negative features of urbanization for human life. Based on the analysis of the dynamics of growth of the urban population of Ukraine for the period 1990-2020, a conclusion was made about the slow pace of urbanization in Ukraine. Based on the analysis of the dynamics of gross domestic product (GDP) and household resources in Ukraine and the city of Kyiv for the period 2015-2019, it was concluded that living in the capital has economic benefits for city residents.
