Abstract

One of the priority tasks of the modern Ukrainian school is to solve the problem of forming the language personality of the student on the basis of an integrated approach in the process of studying all humanities. The meta-subject approach allows effectively form a personality with a well-developed speech culture, speech skills and abilities. The article is devoted to the analysis of the problems of development of students’ language personality at literature lessons at school in the process of studying works of art as a phenomenon of the art of speech on the basis of culturological approach. It is proved that school literature lessons have a significant potential for the development of students’ language personality by activating their speech practice, mastering different genres of speech expressions (oral/written). The article describes three main approaches to the formation of language personality in connection with the study of literature: psycholinguistic, based on the theory of speech activity; linguodidactic, which explores the patterns of teaching native and foreign languages and methodological and literary, which takes into account the possibilities of fiction and the basics of literary criticism. The main strategic tasks and guiding principles of formation of students’ language personality in the process of studying literature are also determined. Effective types of educational activities are named, in particular exercises that help to increase the level of speech and literary creativity of students. The article also substantiates the criteria for students’ speech development in the process of studying literature. In addition, the article provides specific examples of certain types of work on the formation of language personality of students during the study of ancient literature in primary school, namely in lessons in 6th and 8th grades. In particular, the expediency of introduction of culturological approach, use of historical and culturological background knowledge is proved. The opinion is substantiated that the efficiency and choice of types of work depends on the tasks defined by the programs, the set goal, the level of preparation of students and the skill of the teacher.
