Abstract

This paper focuses on cyclical time in modern rap lyrics in comparison with the archaic time of fairy tales. The study is the first attempt to prove the existence of archaic time in a metamodernistic genre. Narrative and stylistic analyses coupled with intertextual and archetypal analyses have revealed the symbolic, narrative, and stylistic devices foregrounding cyclical time with an emphasis on its shared and different manifestations in the genres being compared.
