Abstract

The article deals with peculiarities of the banking institutions diversification taking into account the fourth industrial revolution concept, the global financial market functioning and the implementation of the multinational corporations global financial strategies. The study has identified the factors that determine the banking intensification at the current stage of the global financial relations development and to identify world leaders in the banking sector capitalization, namely Western Europe, North America and Japan. Transnationalization is considered as a material basis for the banking activities diversification processes at the regional and global levels. Authors special attention is paid to banking and industrial capital merger operation, to banking services universalization in the era of digitalization through investment and digital banking, to use of Banking 4.0, as a kind of banking diversification in the financial relations globalization. Based on the Forbes and The Banker data analysis, the authors investigated the issue of commercial banks assets regional distribution, established the multipolar nature of the bank capital placement and the fact of its attraction to the regional financial centers. Leading countries in terms of total capital in the banking sector and banks with the highest values of Tier 1 capital were noted. The evaluation of Forbes and The Banker's rating indicators allowed to state the growing importance of Asian financial trading platforms and the new "economic giants" formation in connection with the denationalization of the Chinese financial market. The article describes the advantages of banking geographical diversification and the main methods of the banking sector territorial expansion. The research allowed the authors to identify and characterize such features of banking activities diversification as: capitalization processes diversification, innovative components and basic functions. The authors summarize the forms of banking activities diversification as modern opportunities for the banking sector development.
