Abstract

The article examines the process of development of choral traditions in Ukraine from pre-Christian times to the beginning of the twentieth century. It is noted that an important role in the formation and development of Ukrainian choral art was played by musical and ceremonial folklore. It is emphasized that Ukrainian folk song has always been an inexhaustible source for any choral work. Choral art has always been closely associated with folk art, which was an integral part of folklife
