Abstract

The article examines the state of development of the insurance market of Ukraine and identifies the main trends in investment activities of domestic insurers. The essence and features of investment management of insurance companies are substantiated. The concept of investment activity management as an investment process management system is generalized. The principles of investment management of insurers, including security, profitability, liquidity and diversification, are defined. The composition and structure of placement of insurance reserves in investment assets are analyzed. The reasons that hinder the development of investment activities of insurance companies are summarized. It is proved that the necessary process of effective functioning and development of insurance business is the management of their investment activities, which should be based on the principles of complexity and system, priority, proportionality and balance, organic combination of internal financial capabilities and foreign economic activity, competitiveness, manageability. The pre-investment, investment and operational stages of investment management of the insurer are described. The functions of investment management of the insurer are considered, including organizational support, information security, planning, control and monitoring of investment projects, financial and economic calculations, evaluation of efficiency. Criteria for analyzing the investment activities of the insurer, based on discounted and accounting estimates. It is noted that a promising area of development of insurers is the introduction of new types of insurance services. Unit-Linked is characterized as a modern direction of the insurer's investment activity, which provides a combination of classic accumulative life insurance with investment activity in the form of mutual funds. Measures to develop the national insurance market and increase the investment activity of insurance companies are proposed.
