Abstract

The article seeks to explore the means of the Gothic language used in comparisons of equality at different language levels. The detailed analysis of language data reveals that comparisons of equal objects and actions in the language in question are carried out by a set of conjunctions, with swa, swe as the most commonly used ones. The Gothic language conjunctions analysed trace their origin back to PIE, having cognates in IE languages. The choice of language means is often determined by the object of comparison (action / object(s))
