Abstract

In article explored the direction of the avant-garde and the issues of the avant-garde as an independent direction in art; the article considers all the currents of the avant-garde, their characteristics and a comparison of classical and avant-garde fine art; studies the manifestations of avant-gardism in the fine art of Europe of XX century; identifying the main features of avant-gardism. The article presents the basic material on the history of the emergence of avant-garde in the visual arts; its influence on contemporary visual arts; the semantic field of the term "avant-garde" is considered. The main reasons for the emergence of this direction are given, such as the scientific and technological revolution, the spread of mass media and communication, as well as the introduction of mass production, that is, it is changes in science and technology, as well as socio-economic problems of the XIX–XX century mainly influenced the visual arts and the emergence of avant-gardism. Described the characteristics of avant-gardism, such as the experimental search for new forms and ways, the break with the previous tradition; lack of consistently built system of aesthetic postulates and characteristic mobility of boundaries and pluralism of artists' opinions, multiple approaches to understanding the essence of being, experimentality and novelty, originality of artistic language, outrage, opposition to the idea of artistic deformation. Also important features of the avant-garde is abstract thinking, gravitation towards the art of associative structures, the perception of objects through their experiences, excessive encryption, mythologization of reality, conflict ratio of formal elements, the merging of temporal layers. The article describes in detail all the currents of avant-gardism and their characteristics, as well as the famous artists of these currents. As a conclusion the article defines the goal of the avant-garde, namely the cardinal transformation of human consciousness by means of art and the realization of an aesthetic revolution that would overcome the spiritual stagnation of existing society. And also at the end of the article is still given the difference between avant-gardism and modernism. Although avant-gardism is often called modernist, that is, modernized.
