Abstract
The purpose of the article is to outline the development features of shaping and painting of products of the Boryslav Porcelain Factory in the Lviv Region (1964–2007). The research methodology is based on the principle of historical reliability, art studies and design approaches, a сombination of ontological, axiological, typological methods, and the method of art studies analysis. Its use is dictated by the need to comprehend the existential, value, and artistic aspects of the factory’s work in the second half of the 20th — beginning of the 21st centuries. Results. The study of the products of the Boryslav Porcelain Factory focuses on the history of porcelain and semiporcelain of the second half of the 20th — early 21st centuries. The activity of the enterprise is correlated with the names of the authors of forms and décor and the range of products that until recently were a part of the national food culture. Given the need to verify data on artists, sculptors, model masters of the Boryslav Porcelain Factory and their contribution to the development of the formation of the line of artistic features of the company’s product range, the true contribution of its creative team to the development of the domestic industry of “white gold” and the best artistic results for a period of about fifty years (1964-2004/2007) against the background of other Ukrainian productions are identified. An important aspect of the work was the data collected through field research in the Drohobych district of the Lviv region, which allowed us to cover the technical and technological features of this production. The scientific novelty is to introduce into scientific circulations the names of the authors of forms and decorations of porcelain products of the Boryslav Porcelain Factory in the period between 1964 and 2007, as well as analyse the most outstanding works from the range of the company’s products for its fifty-year activity. Technical and technological working conditions of leading artists and sculptors are clarified, and materials on the grade and marking of the factory’s finished products were analysed.
