Abstract
The paper studies the matter of performing culture of future vocal artists as an academic and pedagogical issue. The author expands the essence of such concepts as “culture” and “performing culture”. The paper provides definitions of “culture” suggested by scholars M. Kahan, I. Zimnia and O. Rudnytska. The analysis of the latest studies and publications on the specified issue is covered and the directions of professional training of modern vocal artists in higher educational institutions of art are determined. The key components of the performing culture of future vocal artists are specified and described, including the ability to convey the artistic and figurative content of the work, pure intonation, artistic taste, empathy. The author believes that the artistic and pedagogical work of future vocal artists, which should be developed in the process of studying in educational institutions, will contribute to the effective development of their performing culture in classes in Solo Singing, History of Styles and Genres in Music, Jazz Solfeggio and Jazz Improvisation, Working with the Accompanist on the Vocal Repertoire. The paper materials substantiate the necessity to develop basic theoretical and practical knowledge, skills and abilities in future vocal artists in order to develop their performing culture. The author shares the opinion of foreign scholar N. Nurgayanov on outlining the specific qualities that characterize the vocal and performing culture of future vocal artists and defining the functions implemented by performing culture. The author specifies and describes the following qualities of vocal and performing culture of future vocal artists: musicality, set of vocal knowledge, skills and abilities, creativity, artistry, reflection, empathy, personal professional position. The paper also elaborates on the functions implemented by performing culture: integrative; regulatory or normative; axiological or evaluative; educational and ideological functions. The structural components of performing culture – motivational; cognitive and technological; operational and creative, as well as reflexive component – are suggested. The author defines the essence of the performing culture of future vocal artists, which is characterized by a high level of performing skills and is determined by the ability to interpret the musical piece.
