Abstract
Оne of the leading processes in the eurointegration taiking place in Ukraine is the transformation of the society's value system, especially the one presented by youth. The change of values towards a shift from the post-Soviet to the Europen ones has a significant impact on the lives of young people. Over the past ten years, a lot of research has been carried out to analyze the social development of Ukrainian youth. Stadying the values of young people is an appropriate social "barometer". Observing the historical changes taking place beyond our eastern border, we decided to find the similarities of the Polish conditions of the 1980s to those characterizing the present day of Ukraine, trying to break with its past belonging to the USSR. Our inspiration was the research carried out in the 1980s in Poland by Zbigniew Kwiecinski. The social changes that this generation experienced and the effects it had on young people prompted us to adopt the concept of studying the norms and values that govern the social life of Ukrainian students.
