Abstract
The article is devoted to one of the urgent issues of practical training of prospective vocal artists – the development of their media competence. An analysis of the training course “Media Literacy”, which was launched into the elective part of the educational program “Music Art”, was conducted. The analysis of the scientific literature on the problem of the article revealed that nowadays the development of media competence of future vocal artists is an essential factor in success in their further professional activities, which includes work in the pedagogical field as leaders of creative teams. The pedagogical aspect is emphasised. The essence of such concepts as media literacy and media competence is defined. It is noted that media literacy is a component of information and digital competence, one of the key competencies of the New Ukrainian School. Media competence determines the ability to use, critically analyse, evaluate and transmit media texts in various types, forms, and genres, to analyse the complex processes of media functioning in society. The importance of the principles of information and media literacy is outlined. Practical tasks for the development of students’ media competence, which are used in classes on media literacy, as well as forms and types of independent work are described. The importance of studying the manipulative influence of audiovisual media production and the propagandistic nature of fake information is highlighted. Topics of media projects performed by students during the course are presented. The didactic potential of digital resources is revealed. The necessity of developing the media competence of prospective vocal artists, leaders of creative teams is substantiated and proved.
