Abstract
The monograph on the basis of historical linguistics describes the category of status in Germanic languages: Gothic, Old Saxon, Old English, Old High German, Old North (Old Icelandic). The inventory of ancient procategorical constructions of the Goto-Scandinavian and West Germanic areas is singled out. The ways of formation of grammatical means of realization of present pro-categorical constructions in the ancient period of development of the studied languages are presented. For philological scientists, doctoral students, post-graduate students and everyone who is interested in the problems of the history of Germanic languages.
