Abstract
The article raises the problematic eld of socialization of former combatants and the readaptation of their family members. The healing e ect of art ther- apy practices for organizing rehabilitation activities for the speci ed target group is shown. A sequence of art therapy meetings is proposed, which has seven stages, namely: 1) group acquaintance; 2) getting to know yourself; 3) research of hazards; 4) voltage reduction; 5) helping the body; 6) comprehen- sion of achievements; 7) attunement to health and happiness. The presented author’s modi cation of the art-therapeutic technique “Transformation of the Volcano” is the key technique of the fourth stage, dedicated to the study of bodily tension and emotional clamps. To the already well-known method “Volcano” by Irina Vshivkova, the author of the publication added a cogni- tive component, namely the “Transformation circle” question scheme (de- veloped by Olena Merzliakova). Detailed instructions for conducting the methodology with questions and examples of answers to them are provided. Examples of the use of the technique during group art therapy work with combatants and their family members at the Yarmiz rehabilitation center (2021, Kyiv) are given. The accompanying illustrations clearly demonstrate the transformational impact of the proposed methodology. The key idea of the publication, recorded in the conclusions, is that life is worth living. The use of art therapy is a powerful means of transforming the life attitudes of people – participants of art therapy sessions – towards a positive perception of the world, expanding the space of their own capabilities, awareness of the existing creative potential. “The Volcano Transformation” methodology can be used both for rehabilitation meetings with combatants and members of their families, and with any categories of society (temporarily displaced persons, volunteers, teachers, doctors, etc.) who su er from stress.
