Abstract

The article examines the issue of the phenomenon of the professional and personal qualities in the context of the professional activity of a music teacher. It is noted that the study of the specified problem is relevant, as it is intended to resolve the contradiction between society's demand for the formation of professional and personal qualities of the music teacher and the real level of their formation in graduates of institutions of higher art education. The article explores the scientific literature to clarify such definitions: "personality", "individuality", "professional activity", and "personal qualities of a teacher". The analyzed definitions made it possible to determine the essence of the professional and personal qualities of a music teacher as a set of professional-pedagogical, musical-creative and social-personal competence characteristics that is developed in the process of learning, improve in professional activity and ensure its effectiveness. On the basis of the author's definition of the phenomenon, the structure of the defined qualities is presented, which consists of the professional and pedagogical qualities (professional motivation, educational and value orientation, pedagogical tact, pedagogical style, professional image), musical and creative qualities (musicality, musical and methodological ability, creativity, musical-performing mobility, stage adaptability) and social and personal qualities (social activity, emotional stability, character traits, erudition, authoritativeness). The content of each of the groups of qualities, which are interconnected and interdependent, are mutually determined and integrated in the process of professional training and professional activity, is substantiated. Conclusions are formulated that the professional activity of a music teacher actualizes existing professional and personal qualities and conditions their further development. It is noted that the content of the authors' methodology for the formation of professional and personal qualities of a music teacher will be covered in the following publications.
