Abstract

The article deals with the topic of the effectiveness of socio-affective strategies in relation to learning English to improve the language skills of students. The aim of the study was to introduce various socio-affective approaches and methods to increase the motivation of students and thereby achieve greater results in the learning process. The study addresses several key questions. The authors consider the use of this method by both language teachers and students, and consider the possibilities of socio-affective strategies that are underestimated by students. The authors of the article illustrate how the use of socio-affective strategies in teaching English can be a useful way to develop sound teaching methods. The methodological aspects of teaching English are also discussed. Affective strategies have been proven to be associated with managing students' feelings and emotions, such as positive attitudes towards learning, overcoming fear of speaking a foreign language, and encouraging success. In turn, social strategies are aimed at interacting with other people in the learning process, for example, communicating in English with other students and teachers, as well as with native speakers. The article deals with the issue of changing the role of the teacher from "instructor" to "facilitator", creating a favorable, friendly "learning space" for learning. Certain conclusions are made about the unequivocal effectiveness of the use of socio-affective strategies in the course of education, positive changes are also expected in the degree of students' awareness of the educational process as such, as well as in comprehending their own achievements, which, of course, has a positive effect on motivation, mastering educational material and acquiring language
