Abstract

Kateryna Radko's prints from the graphic cycle based on the poem by Theophanes Prokopovych "Description of Kyiv" are considered. The main focus is on the manifestation and interpretation of national Baroque traditions in modern graphic art at the level of concept thinking and visual plastic embodiment. The peculiarity of each print of the series is the inclusion of texts performed in the tradition of Cossack cursive writing, which are an important element of the composition of the sheet. The complex internal structure of the polyptych, the figurative construction of graphic sheets, calligraphic skills, perfect knowledge of etching technique allows the artist to embody the idea of endless opposition of human and God, earth and sky, present in the Baroque heritage and relevant today.
