Abstract

The article is dedicated to the researching of the peculiarities of arranging the music of the academic tradition in the context of jazz. The aim of the research is to study the specifics of piano jazz arrangement of academic music, in particular on the examples of music by J.S. Bach and W.A. Mozart. The relevance of the works of these composers from the standpoint of their universality in terms of use in the educational process and their information among the public. The specifics of solo improvisational music-making as the main method of arrangement are given. The research methodology consisted of a number of methods that allow studying jazz as a special area of another level of assimilation of jazz typological features in academic music through the use of comparative analysis and synthesis. General scientific and interdisciplinary research methods are used: analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, comparison and formalization. The novelty of the study lies in a certain ordering and definition of peculiar arranging techniques in polyphonic music and in the music of Viennese classics. Among the specific features of jazz, in arrangements based on works of the piano academic tradition, in particular the works of J.S. Bach and W.A. Mozart, we can identify certain typicality in the use of metro-rhythmic formulas of jazz, but also note different approaches to change in the melodic sphere, which is justified primarily by the difference in the textural presentation of the music of the Baroque era and the music of Viennese classics. The study found that jazz arrangement (or jazz) allows you to create new compositions with certain intentions to the musical model, which becomes standard, to update views on established examples of academic tradition, namely music of the Baroque or Viennese classics, but also enriches itself: jazz styles are enriched by academic innovations of piano works, which acquire the value of the standard and while maintaining the focus on the iconic method of improvisation for jazz, form a new semantic level of existence.
