Abstract
Ukraine and European countries today are in close cooperation at many levels – from volunteering and communication of its individual citizens and communities to solving important issues at the state level. Ukrainians have repeatedly expressed their vision of the future of their state in cooperation with European countries. The article reveals the concepts of social activity, activation and mobilization of the community, which directly indicates the active actions of communities to take on the solution of important issues for themselves, and not to take a passive position of waiting. The concept of social cohesion of the community is revealed in detail, as the experience of cohesion policy is the basis for the support and unity of Europe. Ukrainian communities are now living a unique experience and demonstrate not only the ability to solve complex problems, which are sometimes, without exaggeration, matters of life and death. The authors considered O. Deineko’s work “Discourse structure of social cohesion as a category of social policy: the experience of applying critical discourse analysis”, in which the scientist makes a comparative analysis of the concept of social cohesion in the European Union, which is also covered in our research. One of the main tools of social cohesion is volunteering, which is becoming popular among young people and has proven itself effectively. The article focuses on youth volunteering and opportunities for Ukrainians to become volunteers in Europe. In particular, the activity of the European Volunteer Service – one of the directions of the program “Youth in Action” is considered. Within the framework of this program, we will consider in more detail each stage that a person who wants to become a volunteer must go through: searching for a project; searching for and establishing cooperation with the sending organization; submitting a candidacy; filling out an application form; waiting; settling all formalities; collection and departure.
