Abstract

The monograph reveals the psychosemantic features of the speaker's thinking in terms of metaphorical object nomination. Deep mental structures are represented from the point of view of linearization, unfolding of meaning in speech. Techniques and methods of operating with meanings in a problematic speech situation are described, the thesis about the semantic conditioning of the subject's success or failure in speech is substantiated. The methods developed by the author are presented: the method of determining meaning-making strategies; the technique of measuring the influence of metaphorical nomination on the understanding of the text and qualitative characteristics of written speech, the method of researching the speaker's decentering capabilities; the technique of initiating meaning making. The classification of speech contexts of metaphorical expressions is substantiated from the point of view of communicative functions of expressiveness and speech influence on the addressee. The functions of metaphorical nomination in speech and thinking activity of an individual are explained. Interrelationships between the speech characteristics of the subject and the peculiarities of his cognitive sphere are highlighted; a conceptual structural model of speech ability to metaphorical nomination is presented.
