Abstract

The article is devoted to the problem of national identity in university culture – a complex and multifaceted concept that reflects the result of gaining experience in awareness of ideals, patterns, and development of student youth. Social responsibility and willingness to cooperate have been identified among the main ethical values. The author emphasizes that from the standpoint of the philosophy of culture, university culture is considered as a social system. It has been emphasized that the fundamental values of the university, as well as the entire field of education, are summarized as follows: student, teacher, university. In the axiological space of modern university culture, semantic accents are shifting in relation to the "truth-goodness-beauty" concept spheres, in which goodness is a basic cultural concept that determines the teacher's value orientations synthesizing professional values and their ethical position. Patriotism, as a property of the spiritual sphere of an individual, implies the readiness to act for the benefit of the Motherland, to sacrifice life in the name of the Motherland without hesitation. A sociological study has been conducted on the patriotic moods (inner state of mind; direction of thoughts and interests) of students. The analysis of the survey results has been grouped into three categories: traditionalist values (willingness to defend Ukraine, speak the Ukrainian language, follow national traditions); values aimed at the future result for the country with an external effect (combine national and European, use any opportunities to improve the state's image, readiness to change the country for the better); the value of practical action aimed at the internal benefit of the country (good education and conscientious work for oneself, for the benefit of the people and the state, taking an active part in public life, living and planning the future in Ukraine). It has been noted that the traditionalist values for the preservation of culture, traditions, and the integrity of the state receive a significant advantage
