Abstract

The article analyzes the most commonly used phraseological units in the Ukrainian-language mass media discourse; the peculiarities of the use of phraseological units in the mass media discourse of the modern Ukrainian language are determined. The study was conducted using the methods of observation, analysis and description. The author examines the uniqueness of the modern mass media discourse of the Ukrainian-language mass media as a means of influencing human consciousness and manipulating the behavior of the population and the "fourth estate" in the twenty-first century. The study of phraseological units is caused by the active socio-political preconditions of life, the development of education and science, technology, mass media, and general cultural events. Today, scientists in many countries are faced with the problem of updating the lexicon and phraseology of the language, which can be applied to the general theory of language development. The article analyzes a number of scientific papers and publications, including Internet publications and online resources, where the latest phraseological units are used in modern mass media discourse. The article also discusses the effectiveness of using such units in the headlines of the socio-political media, and analyzes the advantages of such headlines. New trends in the means of expression, such as metaphors, oxymorons, and peerages, which are actively used by journalists to modify phraseological units, are described. The stylistic peculiarity of phraseological headlines created on the model of simple and complex sentences, titles, openings and leads is determined. Phraseological units are still widely used in the media space. Such units are elements of all compositional parts of media texts of various genres. The author's analysis has shown that the phraseological units used are different in origin and structure, but the vast majority of them undergo modifications of structure or meaning in the text, which emphasizes the language of any text. Phraseological units, due to their generalized meanings and expressiveness, attract the reader's attention and encourage him/her to think. Modified phraseological units in headlines have a special informational and stylistic potential. The main features of such headlines in the modern media space are intrigue, targeted focus and search interest, and the structural components are informative, relevant, specific, concise, sharp and expressive.
