Abstract

The article is devoted to the topical issue of reading culture in general and the role of fiction in a child’s life in particular. Difficulties on the way to successfully laying the foundations of reading interest in children are revealed: low level of general and reading culture of adults, prioritization of material aspects rather than aesthetic ones, competition of books with gadgets, computer games, cartoons, mobile games and other types of activities; neglecting the traditions of family readings; leveling with dominant accents on literature in the educational process of preschool education institutions, mainly aimed at integration, lack of a clear and step-by-step algorithm for planning and organizing the interaction of preschool children with works of art with an understanding of the main aesthetic and pedagogical accents according to the mental characteristics of each age. The peculiarities of perception are determined: levels, stages, the role of artistic perception in the development of young children and the formation of emotional culture. A number of scientific investigations and publications devoted to the issue of children’s perception, methodical aspects of interaction with artistic works, pedagogical theses that will allow solving the problem of reading interest in children are analyzed: for a book to reach a child, it must be in the lives of adults; the world changes and the book changes too; book and artistic word – read, listen, watch; together with the book, the method of working with it must change. The essence of psychological-pedagogical conditions for effectively laying the foundations of reading interest and perception of works of art in young children is outlined, substantiated, and revealed: 1) an adult’s love for a book and the reading process; 2) planning reading as a ritual; 3) observing the consonance of spaces: objects in the book and the environment; 4) emotional contact: adult-child-work-book. Methodological recommendations for parents and teachers are presented, which will allow to correctly lay the foundations of reading interest in young children, to correctly take into account the indicators of systematic persistent activity in interaction with children of a certain age
