Abstract
The article deals with the issue of studying the idiomatic of the English language by means of ICT as determinants of the development of students’ creativity and cognitive interest during practical classes for the disciplines “Practice of oral and written communication: English”, and “Practice of the English language”. The educational potential of the implementation of the method, which includes metaphorical reflections, has been highlighted. The article also investigates the peculiarities of studying idiomatic expressions by means of ICT as determinants of the development of students’ creativity and cognitive interest in classes for the disciplines “Practice of Oral and Written Speech: English”, and “Practice of the English Language”. The essential characteristics of the phenomenon of an idiom, or an idiomatic expression, according to the Oxford English Dictionary, have been theoretically substantiated, which is defined as a group of words, the meaning of which cannot be deduced from the individual words that make it up. The typology of English idioms according to J. Wingfield has been presented and characterized. Attention has been focused on the expediency of using the method of analogies and creating images in order to hypothesize the etymological origin of idioms. Examples of performing tasks with the aim of establishing associations between concepts in the form of developing puzzles have been provided. An experimental study has been carried out to study the potential of the implementation of the method, which includes metaphorical reflections, as well as the study of the peculiarities of studying idiomatic expressions by means of ICT as determinants of the development of creativity and cognitive interest of students at classes for the disciplines «Practice of oral and written communication: English», «Practice of the English language». It has been proven that the use of the method of metaphorical images and ICT during the study of English language idiomatic contributes to the activation of educational and cognitive activities of future specialists; diversification of didactic tools, taking into account different channels of their perception of information; achievement of a specifically defined goal of the educational process, in particular educational, developmental and educational; motivation to study, consideration of their educational needs; creation of a modern educational environment and online learning space; organization of the innovative educational process; integration, differentiation, individualization, training, etc.
