Abstract

The active creation of neologisms is caused by a number of factors of an extra-linguistic nature: a reflection of the development of modern Ukrainian society, Ukraine's openness to innovation, an intensive increase in the role of computerization and Internetization, the intellectualization of Ukrainians, etc. However, we do not minimize the importance of intralingual factors, which are also extremely important. The full-scale war of Russia against Ukraine fundamentally changed the views of Ukrainians on the issue of the establishment of the Ukrainian language, caused noticeable shifts in the lexical composition, and led to the appearance of neolexems. Today, the changes that the Ukrainian literary language underwent in connection with military aggression require special attention and a balanced professional analysis. The linguistic marker of the Russian-Ukrainian war of 2022 is neologisms, which contain the entire set of emotions of the Ukrainian people before the full-scale invasion of 2022. The purpose of the article is to characterize the dynamics of the lexical composition of the Ukrainian language during the war period of 2022–2023. The article records and examines various new tokens of the wartime period of 2022–2023; the main sources of replenishment of the lexical composition in the studied period are singled out; the studied units are classified by thematic groups. The authors of the article found out that the most expressive neolexems related to the topic of modern war turned out to be those that characterize and describe the enemy. They make up the largest share among lexical innovations. One of the most popular neologisms has become the lexeme “racism” – the manipulative, populist quasi-ideology and practice of the political regime of the Russian Federation at the end of the 20th – beginning of the 21st century. A large number of neolexes during the period of Russia's full-scale aggression against Ukraine were formed in a word-forming way and have a homonymous origin. From the surnames of famous state, political and public figures Lexemes that acquired new or additional meanings with the beginning of a full-scale invasion deserve special attention – semantic neologisms or neo-semanticisms.
