Abstract

The article is the result of a study of the realization of the need of social science teachers for development and self-development in the conditions of the crisis situation caused by the war. The actual needs of teachers are highlighted, which determine their motivation for the development of general and professional competences during the wartime period. The level of teachers' ability to self-development is determined and stimulating and hindering factors of professional development are identified, the coefficient of professional development of social science teachers is determined. The results of the survey of teachers of social science disciplines showed that 80% of the teachers who participated in the survey have a high level, and 20% - an average level of self-development ability. Teachers consider interest in work, trust in them, self-education to be the greatest incentives for their professional development , the novelty of the activity, working conditions and the possibility of experimentation, training in professional development courses. Among the obstacles to professional development, teachers single out the following: lack of time, limited resources and difficult life circumstances, health status. Also, the role of the postgraduate education system as a stimulating factor is analyzed professional development of teachers, while attention is focused on its possibilities to meet the current educational needs of teachers of social science disciplines
