The article delves into the nuances of employing web quest technology in computer science classes within the context of extracurricular education for junior high school students. It scrutinizes an issue that has already captured the interest of numerous scholars, specifically the development and integration of web quests in the educational landscape. To that end, the contributions of both domestic and international researchers who have focused on the development and utilization of web quests were thoroughly reviewed. The authors of the article shed light on the various phases involved in the implementation of web quest technology. This encompassed tasks development, the selection of suitable platforms for their execution, the crafting of an appropriate quest structure, and the seamless integration of quests into the educational milieu. Furthermore, an array of task types that can be incorporated into web quests is meticulously scrutinized, with a particular emphasis on their suitability and effectiveness in imparting knowledge to younger students. The article also investigates the most prevalent platforms for crafting web quests. The authors meticulously evaluate the applications and unique features of these platforms within the educational context, offering exemplars of successful implementation in extracurricular education. Particular attention is devoted to the research findings regarding the application of web quest technology in the extracurricular education of primary school students. In a notable endeavor, primary school teachers were surveyed to uncover the challenges they encounter when utilizing web quests, and comprehensive recommendations to overcome these challenges were presented. It's noteworthy that these recommendations have the potential to be of considerable value to educational professionals keen on incorporating modern information technologies into the teaching process. In conclusion, this article encapsulates crucial insights and guidance that can prove invaluable for teachers and educational practitioners aspiring to enhance the quality of extracurricular education for junior high school students through the judicious use of modern technologies.
