Abstract

The article highlights the theoretical foundations of methodological support for using comics in teaching older preschool children and primary school students. Comics have similar features with children's play activities, so the approach to incorporating them into the education of older preschoolers and primary school students is based on the method of using games in the educational process. The structural model of the comic is presented as a systematically ordered set of interrelated and interdependent components (motivational-target, content, procedural-operational, control-evaluative and result-oriented). These structural elements bring comics closer to educational and cognitive processes of children, which will contribute to their implementation in teaching older preschoolers and primary school students. The article proves that methodological support for incorporating comics in the education of older preschool children and primary school students will be efficient, provided that the teacher knows basic methodology, with the help of which they choose specific techniques for teaching children a certain topic at a certain lesson. Based on the comparison of children's role-playing games and comics, it has been found out that the main elements of games and comics coincide, namely: motivation; goal; cognitive content; roles (actors); imaginary situation; plot; role communication; evaluation of the situation offered by the comic; result. Some differences between role-playing games and comics are also highlighted. According to their features, comics are similar to didactic games, which are extremely widely used by teachers in preschool and primary education. The present state of making comics through e-resources by students of first (bachelor) and second (master) education and their use at mathematics lessons in primary school has been clarified, which was practically implemented as part of pedagogical practice at schools in the city of Kyiv. An example of a story problem using a comic on the e-platform Storyboardthat is given.
