Abstract
Based on the analysis of the works of modern domestic and foreign researchers in the field of methodology, didactics and psychology, the psychological-pedagogical and methodical prerequisites for the use of project technology in the educational process for the formation of English-language communicative competence in students of grades 5-9 were investigated. Also, the purpose and content of English language learning in grades 5-9 was clarified based on the project technology of learning. The purpose of teaching English on the basis of project technology is the formation of students' communicative competence in the combination of the following components: linguistic, which includes language and speech competence; socio-cultural, which has absorbed socio-cultural and linguistic-socio-cultural competences; cognitive, which includes strategic competence (the ability to independently acquire knowledge, choose effective educational strategies) and discursive competence (the ability to work with the text, highlight the main points, analyze, make generalizations, conclusions, as well as the ability to work with reference literature); and personal, which involves the formation of creative skills in students during work on the project (the ability to generate ideas, find several options for solving a problem, the ability to predict the results of a solution) and the socialization of students in the process of studying FL. The information presented in this scientific work gives reason to believe that the use of project-based learning technology can make the process of forming English-language communicative competence more effective, as it makes it possible to implement practical, educational, educational and developmental goals in a complex.
