Abstract

The article provides an overview of scientific research on performance evaluation of general secondary education institutions (GSEI). The authors of the article determine that the evaluation of the effectiveness of GSEIs should be subordinated to the purpose of using the evaluation results and include such aspects as: economic, control, rating, and parametric. Evaluation of the effectiveness of the GSEI is an important tool for creating an information base for monitoring the activities of educational institutions. It allows assessing the competitiveness of a GSEI, attracting internal reserves and managing them effectively. According to the authors of the article, an effective institutional audit of GSEI should be based on correctly selected criteria, which can be of two types: accreditation and sociological. According to the authors, institutional audit is a more objective and effective tool for assessing the quality of education than state certification. It involves the use of unified means and procedures for conducting and providing an opinion on the quality of educational activities of an educational institution and the internal quality assurance system. The main stage of the institutional audit is self-assessment, which is carried out directly in the GSEI. Self-assessment is aimed at studying the current problems of an educational institution and making decisions on further institutional development measures.
