Abstract
The article summarises different views of scientists and their own practical experience regarding the content of work in the piano classroom. The main activities of a piano teacher are identified, conditionally systematised as follows: organisational and pedagogical activities; educational and methodological activities; research activities; and concert and performance activities. Several stages of work in the instrumental classroom are considered, including the analytical activity of the teacher of the performing class and the process of reproducing the composer's idea, which is usually considered in two aspects - individual (rehearsal work) and public (concert performance). The article describes seven professional functions of an instrumentalist teacher: educational, developmental, upbringing, artistic and creative, scientific and methodological, as well as communicative and control and evaluation. Particular attention is paid to the communicative function, which is becoming increasingly important in the work of teachers of concertmaster and ensemble classes. Five levels of intra-ensemble interaction (spatial, temporal, performance, psychological and biological) are named and considered. An important aspect of the teacher's work in the piano classroom is revealed, namely the formation of educational repertoire for each student, which takes place every semester and should be focused on the prospect of the student's professional development. Recommendations are given regarding the selection of repertoire. The forms of work with the student (individual, independent) and forms of work with the educational material (thorough study of a musical piece, sketching of musical material, reading from a sheet) are defined. The pedagogical principle of teaching is defined as an individual approach, which makes it possible for the teacher to take into account the student's learning capabilities and individual psychological characteristics, the level of his general musical and special piano training.
