Abstract
The paper highlights the analysis of recent publications on the chosen topic, and reveals that the problem of developing artistic thinking of art school students, in particular adolescents, in the process of vocal and performing activities is insufficiently covered in the scientific and pedagogical literature and requires detailed consideration. The article outlines the characteristic features of adolescent students’ development, their physical and psychological characteristics. The specifics of cognitive processes in adolescent students are presented in detail. The characteristic features of artistic thinking of adolescent students are described. The criteria, indicators and levels of development of artistic thinking of art school students in the process of vocal and performing activities are considered. The essence of the concepts of «criterion» and «indicator» is revealed. Among the criteria proposed by the authors are the following: manifestation of originality of artistic associations in the process of performance; ability to use general cultural knowledge in order to create a vocal product; ability to analyse the vocal line, means of expressiveness of a musical work to determine the features of the artistic style, «thinking of the era» in it. The authors have proposed the following indicators of the development of adolescents’ artistic thinking in the process of vocal performance: originality, associative thinking and developed imagination. In accordance with the criteria and indicators presented in the paper, three levels of development of artistic thinking of art school students (high, medium, low) in the process of vocal and performing activities were proposed. The article describes the content of the experiment to test the level of development of this phenomenon and its stages. The diagnostic tools included the «Draw a picture», «Imagination Test», «Associative Ability Test». The focus and content of each methodology or test are briefly presented. The article concludes with conclusions and further prospects for studying this issue
