Abstract

PETLYUROLOGY is a field of scientific research that studies various aspects of S. Petlyura's life, including his state, political, military, and journalistic activities, as well as his family and associates. The eventful life of S. Petliura requires research in various aspects: obtaining an education and starting work, the first experience of political struggle, journalistic and publishing work, the first stage of the Ukrainian Revolution of 1917-1921, activities at the head of the Directory and the Ukrainian army in 1919 —1920, the period of emigration, the case of his political murder. An important direction of Petlyura studies is the study of the influence of the figure of S. Petlyura on the national liberation movement of Ukrainians in the 1920s and 1990s.In the development of Petlurology, several periods can be distinguished: diasporic (in particular, during life), Soviet, and modern. There are no clear boundaries between them, since the modern one emerged from the Soviet one and was heavily influenced by the diaspora.
